ENTOMOPATHOGENIC FUNGI 
These are number of microorganisms like fungi, bacteria and viruses which parasites and kill insects. There are more fungal pathogens than others. A number of fungal diseases appear in epidemic form and destroy their insect hosts in large numbers. Now there is great interest on such fungi for controlling insect pests without causing environmental damage and with economical advantage in comparison to chemical pesticides. Some of the important entomopathogenic fungi are: Beauveria bassiana, B. brongniatrii, Verticillium lecanii, Metarhizium anisopliae, etc. There are being used on several crop insect pests very effectively.

Metarhizium anisopliae 
This is useful in the control of grubs of rhinoceros beetle, sugarcane root grubs and pyrilla, rice leaf folder, termites, mango hoppers and Helicoverpa armigera.
